What it does
BP 14 88 changes the Other Insurance condition of the BOP. ISO describes it as indicating that coverage is provided to an additional insured on a primary and noncontributory basis, subject to certain conditions – generally that the named insured agreed in a written contract to provide primary and noncontributory coverage. The additional insured's own insurance then does not have to share the loss.
Who needs it
Contractors and service vendors whose contracts say "primary and noncontributory"; tenants whose leases require it for the landlord.
Quoting and selling notes
- This form does not create additional insured status; it works only with an AI endorsement such as BP 04 02, BP 04 48, BP 04 50, BP 04 51 or BP 15 83.
- Confirm the written-contract requirement is met before certifying "primary and noncontributory".
