What it does

CG 21 66 removes "volunteer workers" from the insured definition and adjusts the aircraft, auto or watercraft exclusion and related provisions accordingly. The 12 19 edition is titled "Exclusion – Volunteer Workers As Insureds"; the 06 15 edition was titled "Exclusion – Volunteer Workers".

Who needs it

Organizations that rely on volunteers. Volunteers who injure someone while helping the organization could be sued personally with no coverage under its CGL.

Key provisions and limits

  • A version of the aircraft/auto/watercraft exclusion that preserves unmanned aircraft coverage applies when CG 21 09, CG 21 10, CG 24 50 or CG 24 51 is attached.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Volunteer-heavy organizations should resist this form; alternatives include accident coverage for volunteers and adding volunteers as additional insureds (CG 34 06/CG 34 07 versions exist for other coverage parts).
