What it does
IH 00 76 is the "owners" version of ISO's motor truck cargo forms. It is written for the owner of the cargo transporting its own property on vehicles it owns or operates, rather than for a for-hire trucker. ISO's theft from unattended vehicle exclusion endorsement (IH 99 23) lists this form among those it can modify. ISO publishes this form in its IH series of commercial inland marine forms. IH forms are used within the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part, together with the Commercial Inland Marine Conditions (CM 00 01) and the Common Policy Conditions.
Who needs it
Private carriers: distributors, building supply dealers, manufacturers and contractors whose own trucks carry inventory or materials. Commercial property policies give only limited in-transit coverage, so owners with valuable loads buy this form.
Quoting and selling notes
Ask for typical and maximum load values, commodities, radius, overnight parking and vehicle security, and whether goods of others are also carried (a for-hire exposure needs IH 00 72). Annual transit (IH 00 71) is the alternative when the business also ships by common carrier.
Before presenting it
ISO's IH forms are often adopted with carrier changes, and their wording differs from the filed CM forms. Obtain the carrier's specimen and walk the insured through covered property, property not covered, the exclusions, valuation, the deductible and any coinsurance or reporting condition, and match the limits to a current schedule of values.
