What it does
IH 00 67 covers the insured's signs and street clocks, and similar property of others in its care, as described in the declarations, against direct physical loss except as excluded, anywhere in the United States, its territories, Puerto Rico and Canada. ISO publishes this form in its IH series of commercial inland marine forms. IH forms are used within the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part, together with the Commercial Inland Marine Conditions (CM 00 01) and the Common Policy Conditions. It is an alternative to ISO's filed signs form, CM 00 28, with more built-in additional coverages.
Who needs it
Retailers, restaurants, auto dealers, shopping centers, banks and franchisees with pylon or monument signs, and sign manufacturers or installers with customer signs in their care.
Key provisions
- Not covered: neon, fluorescent and automatic or mechanical electric signs and lamps (in the 12 20 specimen), and contraband. Electric and neon signs therefore need specific attention; IH 67 01 adds artificially generated electric energy coverage for signs.
- Additional coverages within the limit: debris removal (25% of the paid loss plus deductible, with up to $10,000 more) and preservation of property for 90 days.
- Additional coverages outside the limit: fire department service charge ($10,000, no deductible), fire extinguishing system recharge ($10,000), pollutant cleanup ($25,000 per year), and further preservation expense.
- Exclusions: delay and loss of market; breakage during transport, installation, repair or dismantling unless caused by fire, lightning or an "accident" to the transporting vehicle (upset or collision); dishonest acts; artificially generated current; plus standard exclusions.
- Coinsurance applies if shown, but not to additional coverages.
Quoting and selling notes
Ask what types of signs are on the schedule. If the account's main signs are neon or electric, confirm how the carrier's version treats them before relying on this form. Collect replacement costs, mounting type and wind exposure. Compare with CM 00 28 if the carrier offers both.
