What it does
CM 26 03 modifies the Physicians And Surgeons Equipment Coverage Form (CM 00 26), which excludes damage from artificially generated electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic energy. The endorsement adds a coverage extension for loss caused by such energy (electrical current and arcing, electromagnetic fields and pulses, electromagnetic waves or microwaves) when it results from an occurrence within 100 feet of the premises, or from a power interruption, surge, blackout or brownout whose cause was within 100 feet. Electronic computer or data processing equipment is added to property not covered for this extension.
Who needs it
Practices with electronic equipment vulnerable to surges and arcing, such as dental chairs and imaging units, monitors and diagnostic devices.
Quoting and selling notes
Disturbances originating off-site beyond 100 feet (utility-side surges) are not covered, and computers are carved out; equipment breakdown coverage is the broader solution for electrical and mechanical breakdown. The ISO index lists both a 09 00 and a current 03 10 edition.
