What it does

IH 99 33 adds a "cyber incident" exclusion to the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part. A cyber incident is unauthorized access to or use of a computer system (including electronic data); malicious code, viruses or other harmful code designed to alter, corrupt, encrypt, destroy or disrupt a system; or a denial of service attack. The exclusion is anti-concurrent: it applies regardless of other contributing causes.

Key exceptions

  • Resulting fire or explosion is covered.
  • The exclusion does not reduce the virus, harmful code or similar instruction additional coverage in the Computer Systems (IH 00 75) and Scientific And Medical Diagnostic Equipment (IH 00 89) forms, or the interruption of computer operations extension of the IH business income and extra expense endorsement.
  • Vandalism is redefined so that it does not include a cyber incident.

Quoting and selling notes

Accounts with connected equipment (telematics, GPS-controlled machinery, networked diagnostic devices) should know that hacking-related damage is excluded. Recommend a cyber policy. IH 99 34 is the alternative version with ensuing-loss exceptions.
