What it does
IH 68 10 appears in carrier forms schedules as Theft Deductible Waiver – The National Equipment Register. It waives the deductible on theft losses for equipment registered with the National Equipment Register, a database that helps law enforcement identify and recover stolen equipment.
Who needs it
Contractors with theft-prone equipment such as skid steers, compact loaders and generators.
Quoting and selling notes
Use it as a selling point for registration. Ask the carrier what proof of registration is needed at the time of loss. IH 99 31 offers a similar waiver for GPS-tracked equipment.
Before presenting it
Ask the carrier for the specimen of this endorsement and read it with the coverage form it modifies, since the endorsement only changes the provisions it names. Note it on the proposal so the insured knows how it changes the base form.
