What it does

Covers a scheduled home day care operation for property and liability on the limited terms and limits shown in the endorsement. The 03 22 edition is titled "Limited Home Day Care Coverage"; earlier editions were titled "Home Day Care Coverage Endorsement".

Who needs it

Licensed or registered family child care providers working from their home. It is commonly paired with HO 04 42 when the day care is conducted in the dwelling or another structure.

Key provisions and limits

  • The base homeowners "business" definition excepts only day care that is unpaid or a mutual exchange of services, so paid day care is excluded without this endorsement.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Many carriers decline to attach it; a commercial family child care policy is the usual alternative.
  • Ask about the number of children, ages, licensure, pools and transportation.

Editions and availability

Editions in use and where they apply: 03 22 (37 jurisdictions); 05 11 (7 jurisdictions: AL, CT, GA, LA, NC, TX, VI); 10 00 (1 jurisdiction: PR).

Section II changes affect umbrella placement. The ISO personal umbrella (DL 98 01) needs its own excess endorsements for business pursuits, home business, home day care and home-sharing exposures, so confirm the umbrella responds before relying on a homeowners endorsement for a business-type exposure.
