What it does
CU 04 44 adds coverage for sexual abuse or sexual molestation liability to the umbrella. ISO filed companion versions for abuse committed by the insured (CU 04 45), claims-made versions (CU 04 46, CU 04 47), state versions, and a supplemental extended reporting period endorsement (CU 27 30).
Who needs it
Schools, camps, youth organizations, churches and care providers that need abuse liability limits above the primary.
How it fits the umbrella
ISO umbrella endorsements are listed on the umbrella declarations and change the CU 00 01 coverage form. Many are designed to follow a matching CGL, auto or employers liability endorsement so that the umbrella and the underlying policies respond the same way; when you add the underlying endorsement, ask whether the umbrella needs its counterpart.
Quoting and selling notes
- Check whether the umbrella limit for this coverage is sublimited and whether the underlying policy provides matching coverage.
- Claims-made versions need retroactive date and reporting period review.
