What it does

CM 99 05 is part of ISO's 2019 multiline cannabis forms series. It adds a cannabis exclusion to the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part, so inland marine coverage forms do not respond to the excluded cannabis property and losses described in the endorsement.

Who needs it

Insurers attach it when they do not intend to cover cannabis exposures; insureds and agents should look for it on any account that grows, processes, sells, transports or stores cannabis or works with businesses that do.

Quoting and selling notes

Ask every inland marine applicant whether it handles cannabis or hemp. Hemp operations should be written with CM 99 06 (exclusion with hemp exception) rather than this full exclusion. Accounts that need cannabis covered must find a carrier that uses the ISO cannabis coverage endorsement CM 99 07 or a specialty program. Vermont and Washington have state versions in the ISO index.
