What it does
BP 18 45 excludes liability arising out of actual, alleged or threatened assault or battery, including related claims of negligent hiring, supervision, retention or security. BP 18 47 is the alternative with an exception for reasonable force used to protect persons or property. The Georgia filing summary notes BP 18 45 is not permitted in Georgia.
Filing and timing
ISO introduced this form in its 2026 Businessowners multistate endorsement filing (BP-2026-OFR26), with the 03 27 edition. Where approved, the filings carry an effective date of March 1, 2027 for new and renewal policies, so agents will see it on 2027 renewals with carriers that adopt it. State approval varies; some states rejected or replaced individual forms.

- A major coverage gap for bars and restaurants; quote assault and battery coverage separately if this is attached.
- Ask about security staff, incident logs and prior fights.
- Prefer BP 18 47 if an exclusion is unavoidable.
