What it does
Makes the dwelling form work for a condominium unit. In 2014 ISO withdrew DP 17 71 and revised DP 17 66 so the unit-owner policy is excess over the association's insurance (whether or not the association collects) but primary for the part of a loss not paid because of the association policy's deductible.
Who needs it
Investors who own condominium units they rent to others, insured on the dwelling program.
Quoting and selling notes
- Read the association documents to decide what the unit owner must insure; the deductible-primary wording helps on master deductibles.
Editions and availability
Current edition 07 14, replacing 12 02, 07 88. Carriers adopt ISO editions state by state, so the edition on a given policy can lag the newest one.
Program notes
Dwelling policies are written for the property owner, not the occupant, and are the usual vehicle for landlords of one- to four-family dwellings. Because the forms carry no liability coverage, review every dwelling file together with DL 24 01 (or the homeowners or commercial policy that provides premises liability), and with any personal umbrella the client carries.
