What it does

CP 10 80 adds the same Space Weather exclusion as CP 10 79. It covers loss caused directly or indirectly by conditions or events originating beyond Earth's upper atmosphere, such as solar flares, coronal mass ejections and geomagnetic storms, regardless of concurrent or sequential causes. It then adds an Exception Covering Certain Fire Losses. If a space weather condition or event results in fire, the insurer pays for direct loss or damage by that fire to Covered Property.

Key provisions

  • The fire exception applies only to direct physical damage to Covered Property. The endorsement says it does not apply to Business Income and/or Extra Expense coverage forms and their endorsements, the Legal Liability Coverage Form, or the Leasehold Interest Coverage Form.
  • It is part of the four new 06 26 multistate endorsements from ISO's 2025 commercial property filing (circular LI-CF-2026-003). The form carries a 2026 ISO copyright.
  • In Arizona, ISO's forms filing CF-2025-OFR25 (SERFF ISOF-134728874) makes it effective June 1, 2026 for new and renewal policies. Other states follow their own filing and adoption dates.

Quoting and selling notes

  • When a carrier adopts the 2025 forms, it can attach this version or the broader CP 10 79. This version is better for the insured.
  • Explain that a fire started by a solar-storm power surge would be covered for building and contents damage, but the resulting shutdown would not be covered under business income.
