What it does
CM 99 12 adds an exclusion of loss due to virus or bacteria to the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part. The ISO forms index lists the 12 23 edition, and carriers file it under that number with the same title.
Who needs it
Carriers attach it to inland marine policies to keep contamination by viruses, bacteria and similar microorganisms out of floaters and transit coverage.
Quoting and selling notes
Accounts that ship or store perishables, medical goods or food (where contamination is a real exposure) should be told the exclusion applies. Contamination-related losses need specialty coverage. Similar virus or bacteria exclusions exist across ISO property lines, including the IH series (IH 99 35) and farm property (FP 01 60), so the gap is usually consistent across the account.
