What it does

CM 99 09 excludes loss caused by a cyber incident under the Commercial Inland Marine Coverage Part, but contains exceptions so that specified ensuing causes of loss resulting from the cyber incident remain covered. It was introduced with ISO's 08 21 cyber exclusion series; an Alaska version is CM 99 11.

Who needs it

Accounts whose carrier is adding a cyber exclusion; this version is narrower than CM 99 08 because physical loss by the listed ensuing perils is still paid.

Quoting and selling notes

When comparing quotes, note which cyber exclusion each carrier uses. Neither version covers data restoration, extortion or breach costs, which belong in a cyber policy. Look for matching ISO cyber incident exclusions on the other lines of the same account as well.
