What it does

CG 22 93 states that paragraph (1)(d) of the pollution exclusion does not apply to the application of herbicides or pesticides by an insured on lawns under the named insured's regular care. Paragraph (1)(d) otherwise excludes pollution at job sites where the insured is working.

Who needs it

Lawn treatment companies and landscapers with chemical application services.

Key provisions and limits

  • Other pollution exclusion paragraphs (owned premises, waste, transport, cleanup costs) still apply.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Ask about licensing, chemicals used and drift controls. Commercial applicators beyond lawn care use CG 22 64.
  • Ask for applicator licenses and the chemicals used; drift onto neighboring property and customer pets are frequent claim sources.
