What it does
CG 21 56 excludes "bodily injury", "property damage" and "personal and advertising injury" arising out of errors or omissions in the handling, embalming, disposal, burial, cremation or disinterment of dead bodies.
Who needs it
Funeral directors, crematories, cemeteries and mortuary transport services.
Key provisions and limits
- Like most ISO professional exclusions, it applies even when the claim alleges negligent supervision, hiring, employment, training or monitoring of others, if the occurrence or offense involved the excluded service.
Quoting and selling notes
- Mishandling-of-remains claims (often emotional distress) need funeral directors professional liability.
- When a professional exclusion is attached, review the professional liability policy for bodily injury and property damage coverage, defense outside limits and the retroactive date, so the two policies fit together without a gap.
