What it does

CG 20 08 adds as an additional insured any person using or legally responsible for the use of golfmobiles loaned or rented to others by the named insured or its concessionaires, but only for liability arising out of their use. A golfmobile is defined as a motorized conveyance designed to carry up to four persons on a golf course and not built or modified to exceed 25 miles per hour on level ground.

Who needs it

Golf courses and clubs. Golfers who injure others while driving a rented cart are protected under the course's CGL.

Key provisions and limits

  • The 25 mph and four-person limits come from the definition; modified or street-legal carts do not qualify.
  • Coverage applies only to the extent permitted by law.
  • Contract-based limits: coverage is no broader than any contract requires, the most paid for the additional insured is the lesser of the contract-required amount or the policy limits, and the endorsement does not increase limits.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Ask whether carts are used off the course (resort roads, communities) and whether any are modified; those exposures may need auto coverage.
  • The 11 85 edition withdrawn and replaced by 04 13.
