What it does

CA 04 21 Full Safety Glass Coverage provides glass coverage on covered autos without the deductible that would otherwise apply, as its title indicates. ISO introduced it in its 2020 multistate revision (rules filing CA-2019-RRU19), and several states use their own versions (Arizona and Minnesota, for example).

Who needs it

Fleets that experience frequent windshield damage: contractors on gravel roads, delivery fleets, trucking and agricultural operations.

Key points

  • The coverage form already pays glass breakage under comprehensive, and lets the insured treat glass breaking in a collision as a collision loss; this endorsement changes how the deductible applies.

Quoting notes

Ask about glass claim frequency, the types of vehicles involved and whether glass repairs are handled through a preferred vendor, then compare the endorsement premium with expected deductible savings.
