What it does
BP 15 98 is the class endorsement for auto service risks, a class ISO added to BOP eligibility. ISO describes it as modifying Section I – Property and Section II – Liability to include new or enhanced coverages, increased limits for Additional Coverages and Coverage Extensions, expanded Employee Dishonesty coverage, and specialized optional coverages. A supplemental schedule carries information not on the Declarations.
Who needs it
General auto repair, brake, muffler, tire, lube and detailing shops written on a BOP instead of a garage policy.
Key provisions
- A companion exclusion, Auto Service Risks – Canine Exclusion (BP 15 99), removes bodily injury or property damage from direct contact with a dog owned by or in the care of an insured – common where shop dogs are kept.
- Customers' vehicles in the shop's care are a key exposure; ISO also has Loss or Damage to Invitees' Autos endorsements (BP 15 96, BP 15 97) on the program.
Quoting and selling notes
- Ask about services performed, number of bays, customer auto values held overnight, test driving and any towing, which may need a garage or auto policy.
- Explain that auto liability for owned vehicles is not part of the BOP.
