What it does

BP 10 79 adds flood coverage to the ISO BOP. ISO describes it as usable either to write coverage above federally insured limits or on a first-dollar basis. Limits and locations are shown on the Flood Coverage Schedule, BP DS 06, which allows specific or blanket limits.

Who needs it

Accounts in or near flood zones, lenders requiring flood insurance beyond the NFIP commercial maximum, and clients without an NFIP policy who want flood on the BOP.

Quoting and selling notes

  • Clarify whether the carrier is pricing the layer excess of an NFIP policy or from the first dollar, and confirm any flood deductible and waiting period terms on the carrier's form.
  • Sewer back-up and sump overflow are separate (BP 04 53).
  • West Virginia uses its own flood endorsement (BP 10 84).
