What it does
BP 08 05 extends Section II – Liability to bodily injury, property damage, personal and advertising injury or other injury arising out of rendering or failing to render professional services in the insured's practice as a veterinarian, including service on a formal accreditation, standards review or equivalent professional board. It removes the professional services exclusion and, for animals treated, certain damage to property and damage to your work exclusions.
Key provisions (01 06 text)
- The contractual liability exclusion is replaced with a narrower version.
- Added exclusions for criminal acts including fraud, liability from theft of any animal, and injury due to fire.
Who needs it
Small-animal and mixed veterinary practices written on a BOP that want malpractice for patient injury or death bundled with premises coverage.
Quoting and selling notes
- Ask about large-animal or equine work, boarding and grooming; these may need separate animal bailee or care-custody coverage.
- Illinois uses its own version (BP 08 54).
